Department of Public Service Charity Event to Benefit Two Marysville Organizations

November 2, 2016 – Marysville Department of Public Service employees will participate in their third annual ‘No Shave November/Fill the Van with Cans’ event during the month of November. Employees will once again grow beards to raise awareness of hunger in our community.  They will be collecting donations for two non-profit organizations in our community – Marysville SOS Food Pantry and BoSS (Breakfast on Saturdays, Sundays).

The general public is invited to participate in this event.  Beginning November 1, the DPS is seeking donations of either canned food or personal hygiene products which will be donated to Marysville SOS Food Pantry. Donations may be delivered to the van in front of the DPS building at 200 14th Street on Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. The DPS hopes to surpass last year’s donation total.  Monetary donations are also welcome and will be directed to the BoSS program.

Employees will end ‘No Shave November’ by celebrating ‘Trim Up Thursday’ on December 1.  Those who grew beards will shave off their facial hair leaving eccentric-looking moustaches.

Please take the time to donate to these two worthy causes. BoSS, created by Marysville Board of Education Member Dave Watson, provides weekend breakfast foods to elementary school children who otherwise would have none.  Marysville SOS Food Pantry, located at 2929 Gratiot Blvd., helps those in our community who are food insecure.
