Youth Programs

Below are highlights of our 2017 summer programs.  For a complete listing of activities please consult our summer recreation brochure.  Registration begins Monday, May 8 for residents; Wednesday, May 10 for both residents and non-residents.  Please visit Marysville Recreation Department during normal business hours at 1111 Delaware or register online.  Please note you must first create an account when registering online.

NEW!  First Annual Fishing Clinic (presented by the Marysville DPW and the Marysville Lions)

Does your son or daughter want to learn how to fish?  This clinic will teach them the proper way to do so with stations covering safety, knot tying, tackle, casting and angling.  Join us for a fun Saturday morning on the St. Clair River.  For ages 5 – 15.  First 70 registrants receive a FREE fishing pole!  Click here to register now or visit the Recreation Department.

Cost: FREE to all participants

NEW!  Crafty Kids

Every week children ages 2 – 6 will read a new children’s book and then make a related craft.  This class is great for encouraging your child’s creative side while also teaching them to love reading.  Older children ages 7 – 12 will get a chance to make a variety of fun crafts that harness their creativity and individuality.

Dates/Day: June 28 – August 2; Wednesday
Time: 9 – 9:45 a.m. (ages 2 – 6); 10 – 10:45 a.m. (ages 7 – 11)
Where: Marysville Community Center
Cost: $20/residents; $30 non-residents

NEW!  Nerf Wars

Kids ages 6 – 12 will get a chance to battle it out using their Nerf products.  The day will be run as a tournament-style competition with five player teams.  Let your kids get competitive and have fun this summer with Nerf Wars.  Players will bring their own Nerf products to this one day competition.  For a list of rules visit our Facebook page or pick them up in our office.

Cost: $50 per team

Lego Camp

Kids ages 6 – 10 will build, race and modify up to 10 different, cool pullback motorized toy building brick cars.  Each car comes with a design pamphlet and students become junior engineers as they design new vehicles using their kits.  Hands-on learning activities and experiments demonstrate science and engineering concepts such as simple machines, friction, tension, resistance, potential and kinetic energy.  These popular BanBao pullback car kits are designed with bricks that are 100% compatible with major brands like Legos.  Students take home everything they build!

When: August 7 – 10
Time: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Where: Marysville Community Center
Cost: $150 per student

Field Trips

Fridays are the NEW field trip days!  These special trips are for kids ages 7 – 14 and chaperoned by our supervisors and staff.  Cost of each trip is $30/resident; $40 non-resident.

Please read the following notes about these trips:

  • trips are for both residents and non-residents;
  • children are supervised by Recreation Staff at ALL TIMES;
  • children MUST be pre-registered by each trip’s deadline;
  • transportation provided by Marysville School Bus, Inc.;
  • 40 child MAX for each trip.  Some trips do fill up fast, so make sure you sign up right away;
  • field trip forms will have exact times and trip details.

Fundamentals of Theatre Acting

Children and teens ages 5 – 15 will be introduced to acting through drills, skill work and group activities.  Not only will kids learn the skills necessary to stand out when acting, they will also learn some technical terms to aid them in their exploration of theater.

Time: 4 – 5 p.m.
Where: Marysville Community Center
Cost: $50/residents; $75/non-residents
